Community rules
OutThere is for meeting people at events. Be kind, and treat people the way you would in person.
- No harassment or bullying: no repeated unwanted messages, insults aimed at a person, or pressure after someone says no.
- No threats of violence against anyone.
- No hate: nothing attacking people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age.
- No sexual content involving minors, ever, and no unwanted sexual messages or images.
- No spam, scams or selling tickets you don't have, and no fake or copied tickets.
- No selling or offering drugs.
- No pretending to be someone else, and no sharing someone else's private information.
What happens when a rule is broken
- Messages, the notes sent with a connection request, and the bio and gender you write on your profile are checked automatically as they are sent. The most harmful ones (threats, sexual content involving minors, instructions for self-harm, and similar) are never delivered or shown. Each new profile photo is checked automatically too: sexual or graphically violent photos are refused, and some others wait for a person on our team.
- Anyone can report a message or a profile, and block anyone, from the chat or the profile. Reports are anonymous: the person reported is never told who reported them.
- An automated system reads each reported message first. It removes a message only where it is clear the message breaks a rule and a second person has reported it too, or our automatic message check flags it as well. Every other report, and every report on a whole profile, goes to a person on our team, who decides. We aim to act on every report within 24 hours.
- A message that breaks the rules is removed for everyone and its sender gets a strike. 3 strikes in 30 days, from the reports of at least 2 different people or our team's own decisions, flag an account for a person on our team to review. A person may pause it for 7 days. A paused account can still sign in and look around, but can't send messages or requests, create or join crews, or join event chats.
- For serious or repeated breaks, a person on our team can close an account. Automated systems never close accounts.
- When we remove something of yours or restrict your account, we tell you in the app (Profile → Notices): what we did, which rule it broke, and whether an automated system or a person decided. When the automatic check stops a message, the words on your profile or a photo before anyone else sees it, it tells you on screen at once instead (a photo it can only check later gets a notice).
- If you think a decision was wrong, ask for a review from that notice within six months. A person on our team, not an automated system, decides it and replies there. If the check told you on screen, or your account is closed and can't sign in, email support@outthere-events.com to appeal instead.
- You can also take a decision to any certified out-of-court dispute settlement body under Article 21 of the EU Digital Services Act, or to the courts.
- If someone is in danger, call 112.
